One of the few inevitabilities in life is change. Change in where you live. Change in your career. Even you change as time rolls on! This constant state of change is palpably apparent when it comes to your home, especially in the kitchen. You see, kitchen trends are continuously evolving, which is why it’s important to be aware of the current trends and where they sit in their lifecycle. Doing this will ensure you make style choices that not only look great and function flawlessly but are stylistically future proofed for years to come.

The whirlwind that was 2020 certainly brought about plenty of changes, especially when it comes to the latest design trends. Which is why we’ve outlined the top 5 kitchen trends that you need to know about.

Efficient storage

The pandemic disrupted not only how we live our lives, but how we as consumers purchase and use products. Dining out and nights out on the town were instantaneously replaced with home-cooked meals and evenings spent at home. This disruption gave way to a rising problem that quickly became apparent for many, they needed more storage! Increasing storage capacity has become a top need for many recently and can be tackled using a variety of methods. However, it’s important to ensure that any additional storage is efficiently integrated so as to avoid disrupting the flow of the kitchen.

Contrast

The last few years have seen the vast majority of consumers opt for flat, white cabinetry that gives off a very uniform, clean aesthetic. However, spending more time at home has meant that consumers are looking to add more of their own character and style to their space. While this trend will certainly continue, what we’re now seeing is a shift towards a more juxtaposed aesthetic that pairs the fresh, minimalistic look of white cabinetry with contrasting, dark elements in an island, countertop and/or backsplash. This layer of contrast adds both character and depth to the aesthetic, allowing for maximal customization.

Minimalistic features

As previously noted, clean cabinetry styles will continue to dominate the market. This means that doors such as the flat gala, which are currently in high demand across Europe and North America, will continue to lead consumer choices. This trend is projected to continue going forward as it delivers the blank canvas that many homeowners desire in order to add their own style and varying degrees of contrast to the space.

Quartz

Stunning, durable and easy to clean. Quartz countertops have quickly become one of the hottest countertop products on the market. But one thing has certainly become more apparent in 2021, top-quality quartz is in high demand! You see, quartz countertops come in a wide variety of grades, which is why it’s important to understand the pros and cons of each grade. While we won’t be diving into the specificities of quartz grades at this time, we do plan on publishing a detailed article on this in the near future.

While there’s a near endless list of quartz companies to choose from, we recommend working with quartz suppliers that only provide industry leading quartz products such as Cambria, K-Stone and Lucent Quartz. You’d also be happy to know that Quartz countertops provide the highest ROI when it’s time to sell!

Slab Backsplash

Slab backsplashes are also becoming a force in 2021 and offers a superb way to pack more punch in your kitchen’s styling. Presented in a single slab, these backsplashes are in high demand due to their bold, cohesive look. Often offered in a metal or stone material, most slab backsplashes are highly resistance to heat, and their easy maintenance also means they’ll continue to look incredible over time.

While it’s true that change is inevitable, it’s up to us to read the signs and adapt accordingly. Just remember to keep these key trends in mind and use them to your advantage. Do that, and you’ll be sure to knock your next kitchen remodel out of the park!
